Is signal weaker on smaller islands, like in Indonesia or Thailand?
Yes, generally — island and archipelago geography means coverage on smaller or more remote islands is patchier than on the mainland or larger islands, regardless of which SIM or eSIM is used. Checking the specific island before relying on it for anything time-sensitive is worth doing.
Do I still need to register a local number to use data in these countries?
