Before you buy

What is NXTL, in plain English?

NXTL is a reusable travel eSIM for mobile data. Install it on a compatible device, then use your prepaid account balance in supported destinations. You do not need to buy and install a new country eSIM for each trip. Add balance when you need more; whatever you do not spend never expires.

What do I get when I buy an NXTL Global eSIM?

The standard NXTL Global eSIM costs €10.32 and includes €8.61 of prepaid data balance. You receive an eSIM for a compatible device and can manage it through your NXTL account or app. The included balance pays for usage at the published rate of the network you use.

Can I make calls and send messages with NXTL?

NXTL is a data-only service; it does not include a phone number or ordinary mobile calls and SMS. Use your data for apps such as WhatsApp, FaceTime or Messenger. You can keep your usual SIM for its number and carrier services, subject to your device’s dual-SIM support and your carrier’s charges.

Do I need to keep the NXTL app open to use data?

No. Once the eSIM is installed and selected for mobile data, your device connects through its mobile network settings. The app is useful for managing your NXTL eSIMs and balance, but it does not need to stay open for your data connection to work. You can also manage your account in a browser.

Is NXTL a monthly subscription?

No. The standard NXTL Global eSIM is pay-as-you-go, with no monthly subscription fee. You pay for mobile data from your prepaid account balance. Keep the eSIM installed between trips and add more balance when you need it.

Is NXTL an unlimited-data plan?

No. NXTL uses prepaid, pay-as-you-go data rather than an unlimited-data package. Your usage is charged to your account balance at the network’s published rate. That lets you buy balance for the way you actually travel, without choosing a fixed country bundle or a set number of days.

Prices & balance

Does my unused balance expire?

No. Your unused prepaid balance never expires. If you spend less than expected on one trip, the rest stays in your account for a future supported trip. You do not need to use it up before a package deadline.

How is my data usage charged?

Your charge is based on the amount of mobile data used and the published rate of the network you connect to. You do not have to use a whole gigabyte before usage is charged. Usage is billed in 1 KB increments, so you pay for the data actually recorded rather than a whole gigabyte at a time. Background app activity can also use data, so review your device’s mobile-data settings if you want tighter control.

Why can one country have different prices?

A destination can have several supported networks, each with its own rate. The network you actually use determines the charge. Cheapest preference helps prioritise lower-cost connections; Best coverage keeps a broader choice of supported networks available. Compare the listed operators and rates before you travel.

How much balance should I add for my trip?

Start with your destinations and the amount of data you expect to use. The trip planner on Data Pricing can estimate the cost, while the usage helper can suggest a starting data amount. It is an estimate, not a fixed-price package. Any balance left after your trip stays available and never expires.

Can I set a daily, weekly or monthly spending limit?

Yes. NXTL lets you set an optional data-spending limit for your whole account, an individual eSIM, or both. Choose an amount of money and a daily, weekly or monthly period for each limit.

  • For the whole account: open Profile, find Usage limits and set your Account usage limit. It covers combined data spending across your eSIMs.
  • For one eSIM: open My eSIMs, find the relevant eSIM and open Usage limit. It covers data spending from that eSIM only.

Turn the limit on, choose the period, enter your spending amount and select Save limit. This controls data spending—not how much balance you can add or keep.

What happens when a usage limit is reached?

When recorded data spending reaches a limit, NXTL suspends data on the affected eSIM or eSIMs and sends you an email. An individual eSIM limit affects that eSIM; an account limit affects active eSIMs across your account. If you use both, either limit can pause the relevant connection.

Limits are checked against recorded usage, so they are not an instant, exact spending cut-off. Check the limit status in your account if data stops while you still have balance. Keep the eSIM installed.

How do I add more balance?

Sign in to the NXTL account you already use, open Balance, choose the amount to add and complete payment. Your account balance updates after payment is confirmed. Keep your existing eSIM installed—adding balance does not require a new profile or another QR code. Use Wi-Fi or another connection if you have already run out of data.

Do I need a separate balance for each country?

No. Your NXTL account balance can pay for data across supported destinations. Travel from one supported country to another with the same installed eSIM; the rate depends on the network used in each place. Check coverage and rates for each stop rather than buying a separate country bundle.

Installation

How do I know whether my device can use NXTL?

Check the exact model and version, not just the brand or model family. Your device needs to support an installable eSIM and be unlocked for other networks. Some regional versions and hardware configurations differ. Use the compatibility checker, and contact us before buying if your exact version is not confirmed.

Should I install NXTL before I travel?

Yes—set it up while you have a reliable internet connection and time to check the settings. Installing the eSIM is separate from connecting to a supported mobile network. When you want to use NXTL data, enable its line, select it for mobile data and turn on data roaming for NXTL. If you are already in a supported location, those settings can allow usage immediately.

Do I have to install the eSIM from an emailed QR code?

No. Open your eSIM in the NXTL app or My Account and use the installation or activation button offered for your device. QR-code and manual installation details are also available. Follow the device prompts, then select NXTL for mobile data and enable data roaming when you want to connect.

How do I install an eSIM if the QR code is on the same phone?

Try the installation button in the NXTL app or My Account first. If you need the QR method, display the code on another screen, or use an image-import option if your device offers one. Manual entry is another option when supported. Do not assume every phone can scan an image from its own photo library.

I installed the eSIM. What do I turn on to use it?

Enable the NXTL eSIM line, choose NXTL for mobile data and turn on data roaming for that line. Check that your account has balance and that your destination is supported. Keep data roaming off on your usual SIM if you do not want to use its roaming data. Installation alone does not select the right data line for you.

Do I need to enter an APN?

Check the connection settings after installation. If mobile data is not working and an APN is needed, use the APN shown in your NXTL activation details or the instructions from support. The correct settings can depend on the eSIM profile. Do not copy a random APN from another provider or assume one value fits every NXTL eSIM. NXTL currently lists globaldata, internet and plus in activation details.

Coverage & networks

How do I check whether NXTL works where I am going?

Search for each destination on the Coverage page and check the listed partner networks and connection types. A supported country does not mean there is a signal in every building or remote location. For a multi-country trip, check each stop—including any separate onboard networks you plan to use.

What is the difference between Cheapest and Best coverage?

Cheapest prioritises lower-cost networks. Best coverage opens up a broader choice of supported networks, which can help when reaching a signal matters more than the lowest price. These are network preferences, not two fixed-price plans. You pay the published rate of the network used; Cheapest is not a guarantee of the lowest rate at every moment.

Can I choose a mobile network myself?

On supported devices, you can turn off automatic network selection and try a listed NXTL partner manually. Your chosen network still needs to be available in your location and accept the connection. Check its rate before selecting it. If you cannot connect, return to automatic selection and follow the troubleshooting guide or contact support.

Will I always get 5G?

No. 5G depends on your device, the supported partner network and coverage where you are. A 5G listing means it is available on that network, not that every connection will use it. Your device may use another supported connection type as you move. Check the destination’s network details rather than assuming one speed everywhere.

Can I share my NXTL connection with a laptop or tablet?

You can use personal hotspot or tethering where your device and the network support it. The connected devices use data from the NXTL connection, so their activity also uses your prepaid balance. Video calls, downloads and background updates on a laptop can use more data than you expect.

Can NXTL work on a plane or at sea?

NXTL lists specialist onboard networks including AeroMobile AS (Satellite Networks) and Telenor Maritime AS. Availability depends on an equipped aircraft or vessel and the service operating on your journey; it is not available on every flight or sailing. These are not ordinary land rates or the onboard Wi-Fi service. Check coverage and the specific network rate before enabling mobile data, and follow crew instructions.

Account & devices

Where can I see my eSIMs and remaining balance?

Sign in to your NXTL account or the NXTL app using the account connected to your purchase. You can find your eSIMs and account balance there. If an order or eSIM appears to be missing, check that you used the right account before buying again, then contact support with your order details if needed.

Can I keep my usual phone number while using NXTL?

Yes, if your device supports using your usual SIM alongside NXTL. Keep your usual line for its number and select NXTL for mobile data. Your home carrier still controls calls, SMS and any charges on that line. Turn off automatic mobile-data switching if you want to prevent your device falling back to your usual SIM for data.

Can my family or several devices use one account balance?

Multiple active NXTL eSIMs on the same account can use its shared prepaid balance. Each compatible device needs its own eSIM; one profile cannot be active on several devices at once. Usage from those eSIMs draws from the same account balance. Sharing account balance does not require giving other people your account password.

Can I move my NXTL eSIM to a new phone?

Check with NXTL support before moving or deleting an installed profile. Do not assume that a previously used QR code or your phone’s automatic eSIM-transfer feature can install it again on another device. Support can check the profile and explain the available next step for your new phone.

Should I delete my eSIM after a trip?

Keep it installed if you plan to use NXTL again. You can turn the line off while you do not need it and turn it back on for a supported trip. Deleting it is not the same as switching it off, and reinstalling the same profile is not something to assume. Your unused account balance never expires.

Can I use NXTL in a router, laptop or vehicle?

It depends on the exact equipment and whether it can install a third-party eSIM profile. Some compatible routers and cellular computers can; other equipment needs an adapter or cannot accept a travel eSIM. A vehicle advertising “eSIM” does not automatically accept NXTL. Check the exact model and configuration before buying, or use a compatible phone’s hotspot where suitable.

Troubleshooting & support

My NXTL eSIM is installed, but I have no data. What should I check?

Check that NXTL is enabled, selected for mobile data and allowed to use data roaming. Then check your account balance and whether a supported network is available where you are. Follow the setup guide for the next checks, including APN settings where needed. Keep the eSIM installed—deleting it is not a first fix.

Why is my data connection slow?

Speed can change with signal strength, network congestion, your device and location. Try another location, check that the intended SIM is selected for data, and review the supported networks for your destination. A different available partner may help, but check its rate before switching. If the problem continues, tell support where you are and what you have tried.

My QR code says it has already been used or cannot be added. What now?

First check your device’s SIM settings: the NXTL profile may already be installed. If it is not, contact support with the error message and your device model. Do not delete an existing profile or buy another eSIM just to retry. Keep activation codes private and share them only if NXTL support asks through an official channel.

I paid for a top-up, but the balance has not changed. What should I do?

Check whether payment is confirmed, refresh your account and make sure you are signed in to the account used for the top-up. If the balance still has not updated, contact support with the order or payment reference before making another payment. Do not send your full payment-card details or account password.

What happens if NXTL still will not connect?

For an unresolved connection failure in a supported destination, we first test the eSIM and investigate your device and setup. If troubleshooting does not resolve it, we arrange an eSIM exchange and test the replacement. If the connection failure still cannot be resolved, we refund the full amount paid for the affected eSIM purchase—not just its unused included balance.

How do I contact NXTL support, and what should I include?

Use the Contact Us page or email [email protected]. Include your account email, order number if available, device model, country and a short description of the problem. Relevant screenshots and the checks you already tried help us understand it. Hide unrelated personal information; never send your password or full payment-card details.
